Where the money comes from

We participate in the Amazon Associates Program and affiliate networks with mushroom supplement brands. When you click a product link and make a purchase, we get a percentage. This keeps the site running without banner ads or manufacturer money.

What this means for reviews

Affiliate status has zero effect on our ratings or recommendations. A product that earns us commissions still gets criticized if it fails lab testing or doesn't meet label claims. A product with no affiliate link can still win best-in-class if it outperforms the competition.

Our reviewers often don't know which products have affiliate links attached. They test supplements, verify certificates of analysis, track effects over 90-day protocols, and write up findings based on what they observed, without any input about which products might earn commissions or which manufacturers have partnerships with us. The business side handles links after the editorial work is done, not before.

Why we do it this way

Testing supplements costs money. We buy most products at retail to make sure we get the same batch you'd receive. Lab testing for beta-glucan content and heavy metals adds up fast. Server costs, COA verification, and the hours that go into research and writing all need funding.

Affiliate commissions cover those costs without compromising what we write. The alternative would be sponsored content or manufacturer partnerships that dictate coverage. We chose affiliates because they let us say what we actually think.

Which links are affiliate links

• Amazon - All Amazon product links use our affiliate tag
• Real Mushrooms - Links to realmushrooms.com use our referral code
• Other brands - Some mushroom supplement manufacturers have affiliate programs we participate in

When we link to a product, assume it's an affiliate link unless stated otherwise.

What we won't do

We won't recommend a product just because it pays better commissions, or suppress criticism to protect a brand relationship, or bury bad test results to keep manufacturers sending samples.

If a supplement fails our beta-glucan testing or shows heavy metal contamination, we say so. Period. Even if we earn commissions from that brand. Even if it means burning a business relationship.
